OrthoNorCal Intern, Ashish Govan, wins First Place for his presentation, Tranexamic Acid Reduces Post-operative Morbidity in Patients Undergoing Foot and Ankle Surgery at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons 2016 Annual Meeting (AAOS).
This week OrthoNorCal Intern, Ashish Govan, along with members of the OrthoNorCal team joined the best orthopaedic surgeons in Orlando, Florida for the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) 2016 Annual Meeting. Every year, members of the orthopaedic community come together to further orthopaedic education, explore the newest orthopaedic technology and products, and network with colleagues. As an intern, Govan has been working with Nicholas A. Abidi, M.D., Clay Christensen, B.S. and Jess Gifford B.S. to research the results of using Tranexamic Acid (TXA). The research conducted used data from 100 patient participants who were divided into two subgroups. The studies illustrated that the use of TXA led to a faster healing process with less bleeding, swelling and pain. Govan and the OrthoNorCal team won a First Place Classification for their presentation and their written paper.
