This past weekend, October 7th-9th, OrthoNorCal’s Dr. Nicholas Abidi worked as one of the track physicians at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca for the Pirelli World Challenge.
The Pirelli World Challenge brought together over 15 car manufacturers and over 100 cars for six competitions. Races were based on the class of the vehicles and brought an exciting end to a season of sports car races. This year’s Pirelli World Challenge brought together 122 drivers for three intense days of racing.

As the host of the event, the Mazda team also extended their partnership with SPCA for Monterey County to raise over $100,000 in donations to help provide homeless animals a place to stay.
As the track physician, Dr. Abidi made sure the drivers and everyone present at the event had the proper medical help needed during the event. In the past, Dr. Abidi has shared his medical expertise as a team physician at UCSC, Cabrillo College, and the local high schools.
