“We share our tool box to heal your spinal ailments and in return ask that you use your “tool box” to maintain a healthy lifestyle including eating healthy, exercising and modifying behavior to achieve maximum health. Many patients want to achieve a pain free lifestyle but few are willing to do the work that it takes to achieve it.”
-Tina Molumphy, MD
Dr. Tina Molumphy was born and raised in Saratoga, CA, where she was a year-round swimmer and gymnast. She graduated from University of California-Santa Barbara with a major in Biopsychology in 1989. After college, while deciding between pursuing a medical degree or a post-grad degree in physical therapy, Tina worked as a physical therapy aide at Bay Sport and was introduced to the study of Physiatry, the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation specializing in the musculoskeletal system of bones, ligaments, nerves and tendons. She saw Physiatry as an opportunity to combine her sports background with a medical practice that allowed a good work/life balance and chose medical school.
Tina graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in 1995 with honors and received recognition for her studies of toxicology. Leaving New Orleans behind, she returned to the Bay Area for an Internal Medicine internship at St. Mary’s Hospital in San Francisco, where she was awarded Intern of the Year 1996. She followed that with a residency at Stanford University in Physiatry, and was named Academic Chief Resident her second year.
Since 1999, Tina has been working in private practice treating spinal pain, and has been certified in Chronic Pain management, Electrodiagnostic Medicine and Physiatry.
Tina has made work-life balance a priority in her life, making room in her career for family, volunteer work and community. She enjoys outdoor physical conditioning such as tennis, hiking, and mountain biking, and volunteers regularly at her children’s school.
Tina is happiest when helping others – whether treating patients at her medical practice or volunteering, but a good mountain biking with her friends on a perfect California day is a close second.
